Our aim is to make students feel they are citizens, not tourists.
For this reason, we have planned daily ‘after-school’ recreational activities programmes to offer students the opportunity to practice their Italian language skills in many different contexts. The activities, involving students, teachers and staff, contribute to creating that atmosphere of sharing and familiarity that characterises life at AEF. Some of our proposals are outlined below.
EXCURSIONS AND VISITS TO SITES OF ARTISTIC AND CULTURAL INTEREST and to exhibitions and special events.
WALKING TOURS OF FLORENCE with the Art History teacher, to discover the city and its monuments.
CONFERENCES on various subjects, held by specialised teachers.
INTRODUCTIONS TO ITALIAN POP MUSIC, from the ‘classics’ of renowned artists to the top contemporary singers and groups.
INTRODUCTIONS TO THE OPERA, with a musicologist to guide our students as they listen to opera. On occasion of festivals and opera seasons, the activities will centre on the productions on the schedules.
EVENINGS AT THE OPERA in Florence, with the Maggio Musicale, but also at the Arena di Verona, the Puccini Festival and wherever productions of interest are held.
CINEMA, with showings of classics and more recent films and organisation of groups for viewing films of special interest.
THEATRE: organisation of groups for attending the most interesting shows on the theatre playbills.
VISITS TO FARMS, to make the acquaintance of the beauties of the Tuscan countryside and to taste wines, oils and other typical agricultural products.
VISITS TO THE ARTISAN WORKSHOPS, to discover the ancient Florentine traditions, to see firsthand that saper fare that has made Florence’s master craftsmen world-famous.
LUNCHES, DINNERS AND PARTIES: at AEF, any occasion is an opportunity to spend time with students. Outings to typical restaurants, encounters with Florentine families and students, concerts by the students themselves: a host of occasions for fun in the most authentic Italian style!
AEF IS YOUR FAMILY IN FLORENCE!
